Up on the hills of Roppongi they wrapped the trees - right down to the smallest branches - in these fiber-optic mesh "socks" that had slowly changing colors flowing through them - I was in Tokyo for one night or two only, but I remember spending a very long time there, it was so magical to just sit and watch. And indeed, there were very many romantic couples in love everywhere. I am very glad to go to Japan in a couple of weeks.
